In 2017, I explored Louisville’s food scene in search of Latin restaurants that had yet to receive media coverage. My research yielded several standalone stories for TheLatinKitchen.com, many of which were cited in subsequent general market publications. While there, I also gathered material for Latina magazine’s summer travel feature on Louisville. Two days after the issue containing the feature closed, Muhammed Ali – who featured prominently in it – died. I contacted the magazine’s print vendor and negotiated a rewrite and reprint of the relevant page (to indicate past tense when referencing Ali) at no additional cost.
